Type A Behavior and Stress
People with Type A behavior are more prone to stress. Type A personalities are…
- very competitive,
- tend to multitask,
- and measure success in the amount they produce.
They always feel under pressure and have the need to get as much done as possible. Some type A’s are aggressive and tend to be more angry or hostile to others if they see them as getting in their way. Type A’s are very hard workers, but all this causes them to be more prone to stress and the illnesses that come with it, such as heart disease. If you are Type A and get frequently annoyed and flustered, you may need to pay extra attention to ensure you are not overdoing it. Make sure you take time each day to de-stress. Pay attention to your actions. When you are waiting in line or traffic, or trying to get through to someone on the phone and you get a busy signal, do you find yourself trying to break through the problem even though it is out of your control? If so you may have a type A personality. Instead of butting your head into the obstacle of something you can’t control, try to take your focus onto something else. Don’t multitask. Work on one task until you complete it and then move on to the next. Don’t judge yourself based on numbers or how much you accomplish in a given amount of time. If you can relax and realize that life is not all about getting things done and being better than the next person, you will live a less stressful, and in response, a more healthy life. Life is supposed to be an enjoyment, not a competition! Click here to check out some stress reduction ideas you can use.
