Learn to Say No Stress



No stress starts with saying “No!”

Do you find yourself saying yes to everything you are asked to do, whether it is at work or in your social life? Do you constantly feel you have too much going on and are always working over time or late hours to get it all done? Are you afraid if you don’t agree to do something your boss won't look as favorably on you during raise and promotion time? Are you constantly stressed about how much you need to do?Say No Stress

If you answered yes to any of these questions you need to learn to say “no.”


Remind your boss of all you do.

If you are overloaded at work and are constantly working overtime to get things done, then it is time you spoke up. Often times your boss won't realize how much you have going on and reminding him that you have a lot of projects will hopefully make him back-off.

Come up with a way to nicely suggest that you are too busy to complete a task at this time. When your boss asks you to do something, ask him if the task is a priority and where it fits in with the other tasks you are working on. Mention that you just want to make sure you complete things when they are needed, as you have a lot going on at this time and want to make sure nothing slips through the cracks. Even if your boss still asks you to complete the task you will have a better idea of when it needs to be completed and result in no stress (or at least less stress).


Stick to your schedule.

If you are supposed to leave at 5:00 everyday, let your boss know that you have other obligations after work and you are unable to stay late unless it is extremely important. You will know what tasks you absolutely need to get done and which can wait until the next day if your boss prioritizes tasks.


Your boss is often busy himself and not aware that you are overloaded. It is up to you to speak up when things get out of control and you can no longer manage your stress. As long as you are producing quality work, your boss will still view you as an asset to the company even if you turn projects down.
