How to cope with stress is different for everyone. For some, coping with stress is easy and comes naturally. For others, it is difficult and even the most trivial thing can cause stress. How is your coping style classified?


Below are the most common styles for coping with stress.

Haridiness
People who fit into this category are less likely to be affected and are the least bothered in a stressful situation. These people naturally cope with stress better and are less prone to illness caused by stress. They like changes and new situations and tend to feel in control of their life and what happens to them. They actively work to fix any bad situation and are upbeat and positive.

Repression
This occurs when you push stress-related thoughts into your unconsciousness and can affect your behavior without you realizing it.

Suppression
This occurs when you consciously tell yourself to forget about something. This method rarely works as it is hard to force yourself to not think about something, especially if it bothers you.

Displacement
This occurs when you direct your anger or frustration at someone else rather than the direct cause of the stress.

Regression
This occurs when you regress to an earlier time in your life because it helps you escape your current problems. This often manifests itself in people who take up drinking or smoking after a long period of time in which they quit.


Obviously you should try to use the hardiness way to cope, rather than pushing yourself into a more self-destructive cycle. Look at things in a positive light and try some of these techniques to help relieve stress.
